Hub Mayer and John Koon are Retired Police Officers now using their experience and skills in the private sector, for Criminal Defense Attorneys. Together, they have over 50 years experience serving the Public.  Hub maintains his private investigator license but is semi-retired again; consulting and working only on select cases.

Hub Mayer retired from the Houston Police Department in 2004 as a Homicide Detective. He served the citizens of Houston in that capacity for over 15 years. He served several years in a Drug Interdiction unit and in Officer Integrity.  In 1982, he was assigned to head up a “Direct Area Response Team”  (DART) that was tasked  to go into specific areas of Houston and stop drug trafficking, prostitution and to close illegal gambling and  drinking establishments. That was when he and John Koon met.

John was working for the Houston Fire Marshal’s Office when he met Hub who was working the DART project.  Hub requested help from the Fire Marshal’s Office to assist in closing down illegal clubs.  Many of these clubs operated in locked and dangerous buildings, constituting an additional hazard to the occupants and the community.  Hub and John worked together in the DART unit for two years and made a positive impact on many neighborhoods.   Both Hub and John have held Advanced Peace Officer certificates from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).

John and Hub took new assignments in 1984.  John left the Fire Marshal’s Office in 1990 and went to work as a Public Safety Officer at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.  He served there in various assignments as a Public Safety Officer, a Public Safety Sergeant and as a Public Safety Lieutenant.  John also retired from the public sector in 2004 and continued doing private investigations for Criminal Defense Attorneys.

Hub and John partnered up again, twenty years later (2004), to combine their extensive career experiences to form a private investigations company. Their years of experience covered many areas including street patrol, officer integrity, drug interdiction, homicide, fire investigation & inspections, officer safety, anti-terrorism, hazardous materials operations, and supervision & management of various units and incidents. Both are licensed Texas Private Investigators. John maintains membership in the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators (TALI).
